Participation Trends Camp facilitated a learning community for 106 different incoming 9th graders with 20 current/former CVU students, three CVU staff, and an on-site director
~20% of incoming 9th graders (1 in 5) attended between 2002-2006.
~33% of incoming 9th graders (1 in 3) attended between 2007-2011
Figure 1 summarizes the 2011 enrollment for each interest area by town. Every Camper chooses to participate in three interest areas which meet every day. In each Interest Area group, Campers are able to: (1) Meet peers with similar interests, (2) Learn new skills, and (3) Create positive connections to CVU resources.
Figure 2 shows typical results for annual exit surveys. Campers are constantly encouraged to participate in a positive learning environment. This year the CVU Summer Camp helped 9th graders make a smooth transition to high school:
~ 90% agreed they made at least one new friend,
~ 95% agreed they treated individuals and property with respect,
~ 85% agreed they learned new skills during interest areas
~ 80% agreed they could find their way around CVU resources,
~ 70% agreed they planned to join a club or sport,
~ 90% agreed they worked effectively in a group
Support Scholarship Efforts & Generate New Learning Opportunities The CVU Summer Camp provides equal opportunity to access resources at the high school. Since 2002 Camp has offered scholarships & transportation to families that request support. Applications for scholarship sponsors are submitted annually to local organizations.
Table 1 summarizes scholarship activity since 2002. The CVU Summer Camp also provides carpooling and emergency pickup/dropoff transportation services to help increase participation probability. Please help encourage community sponsors from school & business groups. Access CVU coordinates fundraisers and grant requests to recover about $4,273 per year
